It is another time of the year for the Lagos msme fair – Lagos State Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Fair, 2018. The MSME Program Exclusive Fair which is an initiative of the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Corporatives.
It’s meant for the operators of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise sub-sector of the economy, as they form the bedrock of the economy of any nation including Nigeria and Lagos state in particular.
The objectives of this initiative are to offer indigenous producers a platform they can leverage on promoting or marketing their businesses and gaining global visibility. It also helps to encourage quality and innovative products worthy of comparison and competitiveness both locally and internationally.
The Director of Commerce in the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Cooperatives, Mr. Akim Adeniji explained that the MSME Exclusive fair platform is to assist small-scale producers. These are people who don’t possess the capacity to embark on marketing activities for their products, even though they produce good quality products worthy of patronage from the masses.
Mr. Akim said, “The State Government has come up with this initiative called the Marketing Intervention Program for the Small Scale Operators. These are people who cannot afford the advert and marketing promotion activity for their products”
“People will come over using the lagos msme fair to see their creative and innovative products and realize that those products are worthy of being patronized. They will patronize this rather than importing similar products from abroad”, He said.
The 3rd MSME Exclusive fair promises to be even better than the previous editions. It is targeted at developing and promoting global competitiveness and exportable quality products. The theme for this year’s program is “Enhancing MSME’s Product Quality for Global Competitiveness”. The event commenced on October 2 and will end on October 8, 2018.
The seven days fair will hold at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos between the daily hours of 9 am to 6 pm.
According to the Director of Commerce, businesses can still participate despite the fact that the program has already kicked off.
Mr. Akim Adeniji further invites the people of Surulere to come over and see the products of indigenous small-scale producers that have formed a critical part of the economy of the State.
You recall we talked about CBN giving offering collateral-free 220 Billion Naira to Artisans, as part of its effort to support MSMEs.
“We have created a platform through this 3rd lagos msme fair. They have the chance to showcase their products and we invite the people of Surulere to come over to see these products and the beautiful things our people are doing”, He said.
